CTRL SHFT – Before you know it, AI will change the investment industry
AI will increasingly penetrate investment advice and asset management. This raises questions about trust, responsibility and professionalism. With the dialogue document CTRL SHFT, DSI, together with industry professionals, is identifying these issues. The document feeds DSI’s Continuing Professional Education program and invites organizations to actively have the conversation about AI and integrity within their own practices.
AI accelerates change: why the financial sector must act now
CBS’ AI Monitor 2024 shows that 37.4% of financial services companies are using AI technologies, a significant increase from 2023. Large companies are leading the way, but smaller organizations are also noticing the impact on their processes and customer advice. These figures underscore the urgency for the industry to start the conversation about integrity, professionalism and the responsible use of AI(CBS, 2025).
DSI spoke with financial industry experts to explore this impact. Their insights were summarized in the dialogue document CTRL SHFT, which describes three fundamental shifts: the playing field, the workplace and services. The document invites organizations to have the conversation about AI and integrity and reflect together on the implications for the work of professionals.
One expert interviewed says, “It takes effort to explain what AI does and where people interact with it, sometimes without knowing it.” It highlights that AI is not only a technological issue, but also a human and organizational one.
Next thing you know … three shifts affecting the industry:
- AI shifts the playing field – Before you know it, both the rules and the technology are hard to understand. Will frameworks and transparency still provide guidance or will AI become an uncontrollable force?
- AI reshapes the workplace – Before you know it, mastering traditional knowledge will be a thing of the past, and working with and critically questioning AI will be crucial. Who will be “with it” then?
- AI is changing services – Before you know it, AI will be deciding every customer recommendation. Efficient, but fraught with questions of integrity and accountability. How do we keep humans at the center?

CTRL SHFT is not an endpoint, but an invitation to dialogue. Used in DSI’s Continuing Professional Education program, the document helps organizations understand the impact of AI on integrity and professionalism.
