DSI has updated the final attainment levels for the initial exams of the ESMA Retail Register. Together with the Advisory and Accreditation Committee, the existing final attainment levels have been critically assessed and supplemented and tightened where necessary. Accredited trainers have now received the new final attainment levels. They will deliver their updated exams to DSI no later than October 1, 2026. The updated exams will be administered starting in 2027.

Why this update?

With a DSI certification, you meet ESMA’s professional competence requirements. These requirements form the basis for the exams DSI accredits and ensure that all relevant knowledge is tested.

The final attainment levels are periodically updated by DSI. The topics covered in the Continuing Professional Education program in recent years have been incorporated into the new learning outcomes. In addition, other relevant developments in investment services have also been included. The new learning outcomes have been adopted by the Advisory Committees and the Accreditation Committee.

What does this mean to you?

  • Educators: Receive the new learning outcomes and deliver their updated exams by October 1, 2026. DSI reviews and accredits them prior to implementation in 2027.
  • New entrants: In 2026, they will still take exams based on the current attainment targets. From 2027 they will be tested on the updated subject content.
  • Certified professionals: For professionals already certified and participating in the Continuing Professional Education program, nothing will change.
