DSI Certification

for educational institutions

The DSI Foundation accredits educational institutions to offer examinations and the DSI Continuing Professional Education program. This page explains how the accreditation process works. You can also download the necessary forms and information.

DSI certifies professionals working in the investment sector. Professionals can obtain certification in one or more of eleven different registers. A professional may be certified for several different registers, depending on the nature of their work. A professional must successfully complete an examination to obtain certification, and since 2020 professionals are also required to successfully complete the annual Life-Long Learning programme each year.

The DSI Register Overview provides a more detailed explanation for each register. You can also learn about the certification process, for whom it is intended, and the relevant Continuing Professional Education program.

DSI Certification

A professional must successfully complete an examination to obtain certification, and since 2020 professionals are also required to successfully complete the annual Continuing Professional Education program (PE-program) each year.

Examination accreditation

DSI also accredits educational institutions to offer examinations. In the accreditation process, the DSI Accreditation Committee, composed of a diverse group of experts in the field, evaluates the qualifications of third parties and approves them if they meet the stated requirements. Employers and Certified Professionals are then free to choose an accredited study program offered by one of the accredited educational institutions.

For a summary of the requirements that the examinations must meet, see the page: DSI Qualifications. For an overview of the learning objectives that the annual Continuing Professional Education (PE) program must meet, please check here.

Educational institutions seeking DSI accreditation for examinations or a Life-Long Learning programme may submit an accreditation request to DSI. A list of accredited examinations is available on the Accredited providers page. For more information about the accreditation process for the Continuing Professional Education program, click here.

Submitting your study programmes and examinations

If your institution wishes to submit examinations and study programmes for accreditation for a specific certification, please contact the Secretary of the DSI Accreditation Committee via e-mail or post.

Please note: DSI only evaluates educational programmes that conclude with an examination.

DSI requires the following information for accreditation:

  • A written accreditation request via e-mail.
  • An overview showing that the DSI qualifications are dealt with in the study programme.
  • An explanation of how the examination is organised.
  • Insight into how objective and sufficient testing is arranged.

Accreditation costs

An accreditation request costs a one-time fee of € 5,000 excluding VAT for each accreditation procedure. Accredited qualifications can be extended each year for an annual fee of € 1,500 excl. VAT per course.

Revised qualifications

The qualifications may be revised from time to time to address amendments to legislation or new developments in the professional field. When DSI revises the certification qualifications, then the relevant study programme or examinations must be re-accredited.

When a DSI-accredited qualification is revised by an education provider or participant, then DSI must be notified immediately to determine whether re-accreditation is necessary. These changes will not be subject to additional costs. These provisions are included in our Accreditation Process Regulations.

The accreditation of exams that provide eligibility for the ESMA registers are subject to the Accreditation Terms and Conditions Regulations, which are available for download here.

Would you like to submit an accreditation request, or do you have any further questions?
